[Love Yourself: Answer] Buying

Tips for Buying

Charts to Target

  1. Billboard 200 – Billboard’s chart which ranks the top 200 albums.
  2. Hot 100 – Billboard’s chart which ranks the top 100 songs.

When do these charts track sales?

They track sales starting on Friday to the end of the day on Thursday of the next week. The charts are publicly updated on Tuesday. (Source)

Should I gift the album?

No, gifted songs or albums are not counted. (Source)

Links

These sites/locations report to Billboard for the charts. (Source) These will be updated for LY: Answer’s comeback as the links are available.

Digital

  • Remember to use TEA (track equivalent album) method for buying digitally so that your purchase counts for both charts – this means if you buy the title track ten times, that equals one album sale on the Billboard 200 and also counts towards Hot 100. Do not click “complete the album” or buy the full album. (Source)
    • This only applies to ARMY in the USA or Canada, because this contributes to the Billboard charts in those countries. However, local charts may have different rules than Billboard. ARMY from other countries may complete the album/buy the full album unless they are trying to chart within their own regional chart’s specific rules.
  • If there are two versions of IDOL on the album and neither is marked “ft. Nicki Minaj”, the last track on the album will be the Nicki Minaj version. The Nicki Minaj version is also longer, with a total length of 4:20.

  • If you do not see the album at your retailer, ask. Sometimes they do not have it shelved yet.
